- Turkey is heavily reliant on exports to the eurozone, and a slowdown in Europe will certainly have a serious impact on the Turkish economy. GDP growth is currently forecast to fall from the highs of 7.5% in 2011 to 3.5% in 2012 (source: EIU). IDC forecasts IT spending growth of 10% in 2012; however, if the European situation deteriorates further, resulting in a substantial fall in exports and foreign investment, it will severely affect sectors such as manufacturing and textiles in Turkey, and could bring IT spending growth down to the neighborhood of 5–7%.

Microsoft at 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES): Keynote
Steve Ballmer and his team has finished their keynote at CES 2012 a few hours ago, here is the video link:

Notes:
Windows Phone: these features do not give the shivers until they come to iphone in 5 or 6 years. In other words Microsoft is doing a good job by leading the way for Apple and Apple is perfecting all the products and features in a few years. (BTW the presentation by the WindowsMobile guy was a disaster)
- HTC Titan 2 has a 16 mp camera (wow!!)
- Nokia Lumia 710 is being launched tomorrow in US for T-Mobile customers. And Nokia Lumia 900 (4g-LTE) which has 4.3 inch amoled will be launched in a few months for AT&T customers.
- Steve Ballmer has presented Laptops built for Windows 7; Sony, Asus, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung and HP which was really odd.
- Tami Reller (CMO) did not let the product (Windows 8) talk itself, but tried to sell it, which was really a low point for a presentation.
- The way Windows 8 uses the "notifications" is similar to IOS and other mobile operating systems, which is cool and better.
- She told that "Metro style apps" are being built since September and will be sold at Windows store starting by February. I am not sure how many apps are being developed at the moment, her voice was not convincing enough :) But at least Cut the rope of Zapto Labs is ready for $1.49
- Tami Reller kept saying "Apps" and "Store" which reminds "apple" and Ios to everyone..
- It was interesting to see one of the most popular ios apps "icookbook", on Tami's screen.
Xbox:
- there are 66 million xbox owners, 40 million subscribers
- Your voice is your new remote control. (I hope it would work as good as they have shown)
- With new TV agreements Xbox could be called VODBox now.
- Kinect is coming to Windows on FEbruary 1st.
Steve talked about Sync, Skype and Bing at the of the keynote.

Fatih projesi - Tablet özellikleri
Fatih projesi için deneme tabletlerin şartnamesi belli olmuş. Kısaca özetliyorum:
- Android olacak.
- Minimum 1 Ghz
- USB olacak, ama öğretmen ve öğrenciler için kullanım dışı olacak??
- Wi-fi isteniyor ama 3G şart koşmamış
- 8,9 ile 9,5 inch arası büyüklükte ekran isteniyor. (Bu arada Türkiye’nin resmi ölçü birimi santimetre diye biliyordum ama inch olarak yazmışlar

Türkiye pazarında yeni "mobil" oyuncular
Bir yandan Türkiye'den, Internet alanında bir sürü firma yatırım alırken (Mekanist, Markafoni, Trendyol, Vipdukkan) bir yandan da Türkiye Mobil pazarlama pazarındaki markalar kan kaybederken (Mobilera, Dataport, Aeredeon, Project House) şimdi yabancı mobil pazar firmaları Türkiye pazarına girmeye başladı.
En son duyduklarım da Amerikan-Yunan Velti ve İspanyol Nvia. Her ikisi de şimdilik 1'er kişilik ofisler :), ama potansiyelleri ve güçleri büyük. Pazarı biraz tarttıktan sonra gerçekten etkin birer oyuncu olmak isterlerse finansal güçleri de insan gücü de gelecektir.

Connecting IPAD-Wifi to 3G network with Nokia phones: Joiku
Since I do not consider myself as a geek, I did not even try to connect my ipad-wifi to the internet via any other way then a wifi. And since Apple-lovers only care about the features of iphone, they promoted the hotspot (or tethering) feature of iphone so bad that I thought only with an iphone you would be able to use a 3G network to connect ipad-wifi to the internet.
Geez, how wrong I was !!!

Today I was doing my annual OVI store visit at my Nokia E72, and look what I found: JoikuSpot Premium.
It is a small miracle for me. I have done nothing other than installing it and pushing the "yes" button to create a wifi hotspot which is usable with my ipad-wifi.
You can define an encrypt key not to let everyone use your wifi hotspot and you can track your uploads-downloads not to receive a bad surprise at your GSM bill.
After my small discovery now I really do not understand the need to pay more to buy an ipad-3g. And now I hope some of you would tweet this and let others learn that they do not need extra 100 bucks to use 3G on ipad !!!

Turkish people spend 9 hours a week on social networks, mainly Facebook.
According to an Interpromedya research in Turkey, Facebook is used by 87% of the Internet users in Turkey.
According to the same November 2010 research, people spend 9 hours a week on average at social networks. However only 25% of the internet users use online shopping.
Although the respondents told that they use he Internet mostly to read newspapers, there could be a high "white lie" error in that answer.
On the other hand, cellphone has the largest penetration with 97,3%.
